Three-Word Wednesday

Just for fun this week, I’m joining up with Three-Word Wednesday. Each Wednesday three words are posted, with which we are directed to be creative.

This week’s words are burn, hue, and moral.

The Quality of Fire

I didn’t know when we began

how I would come to burn for you

nor how my life would change hue

when you entered it with me.

I didn’t know what would come.

Nor that fire could be illicit.

We were not moral.

            But we loved.

Gratitude/Happiness List: May 11

Linking up with Laurel Regan’s Alphabet Salad to present my Gratitude and Happiness List for this week.

First and foremost, I am very grateful to my wonderful mother for everything she was and to have had her with me until her one hundredth birthday. I am grateful that I was able to be her caregiver and keep her with us in her last years, until her broken hip made it impossible for us to care for her at home any longer. I’m grateful that we found a place for her to live that was beautiful and filled with caring, compassionate staff and that she was content there. And ever grateful to my dear husband for everything he did for her and for me during that difficult time, including leaving our home and buying another so that we could care for her there.

Other things that make me grateful and happy this week:

Celebrating twenty-one years of marriage with my soulmate and best friend, Tim.

Spending a nice anniversary day in Newport, RI, with our dog, Honey, followed by an excellent dinner at Spain restaurant.

The pink blossoms on our cherry tree outside my office window.

Reconnecting via Facebook with two old high school friends—from over forty years ago!

The beautiful fresh flowery smell of spring in the air.

A deliciously warm weekend and our first al fresco dinner of the season at a neighborhood restaurant with Honey, who very nicely agreed to share our dinner with us.

Being able to get out and run this morning.

Going out for breakfast three times in the past week (I love breakfasts out!)

Being almost done with my latest big project and having another waiting for me with the prospect of more work coming.
