Shelter Pet
You turned away when I looked at you in your cage. Shy, they
said. Unfriendly? I worried. Could I love you enough? Your turned-away head
said Take me home. Take me home. Take me
home.

Truly beautiful and heart warming. I have a cat that nobody else wanted. I'm glad they didn't!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Helena. Sometimes you have to look beyond the surface to see the treasure. I'm glad for both of us!
DeleteAw, this is so beautiful! Fabulous take on the prompt!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Suzanne. She's my special little girl now, and I think she's beautiful.

Thanks for the link! Cute song.
DeleteThank you, Jo-Anne. I had a few tears after we brought her home, too, wondering if we'd done the right thing. But now I'm so glad we did!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. We are rescuers as well and have had our cat now for over 10 years.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! (:
ReplyDeleteRescues make the best pets.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed. Rescue pets are the best!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I'm so glad you heard the 'take me home' in the turned head. We have a rescue dog that a friend fostered and she is the best dog EVER! Breaks my heart that she was scared and locked in a cage.
