Shelter Pet

You turned away when I looked at you in your cage. Shy, they said. Unfriendly? I worried. Could I love you enough? Your turned-away head said Take me home. Take me home. Take me home.

  1. Truly beautiful and heart warming. I have a cat that nobody else wanted. I'm glad they didn't!

    1. Thank you, Helena. Sometimes you have to look beyond the surface to see the treasure. I'm glad for both of us!

  5. Thank you, Jo-Anne. I had a few tears after we brought her home, too, wondering if we'd done the right thing. But now I'm so glad we did!

  8. I love this! I'm so glad you heard the 'take me home' in the turned head. We have a rescue dog that a friend fostered and she is the best dog EVER! Breaks my heart that she was scared and locked in a cage.
